Released in 2002, Microsoft Office XP Professional (also called Office 2002) is a software suite containing popular Microsoft productivity programs. Office XP Professional offers Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Access. Before you can use any of the programs in Microsoft Office XP Professional, you must install all of the programs and update it to Service Pack 3 (SP3), which is the final update released for Office XP.

Step 1

Insert the installation CD and wait for the setup wizard to load. After you insert the installation CD into your computer's CD-ROM drive, a dialog box will appear prompting you to begin installation. If this dialog box does not appear, double-click your CD drive and explore the contents of the CD. Double-click the file called 'setup.exe' to start installation.

Step 2

Select an installation type. In the setup wizard, click the 'Next' button until the dialog box asks you to select an installation type. You must select either 'Minimum,' 'Typical' or 'Advanced' installation. Although the 'Typical' installation is recommended, you can select 'Minimum' if you wish to use as little hard disk space as possible to install Microsoft Office XP. Selecting 'Advanced' will require you to select individual components you wish to install. Do not choose this installation type if you are unfamiliar with these components.

Step 3

Finish the setup wizard and restart your computer. Click 'Next' and wait for the progress bar to indicate that the installation was successful. Click 'Finish' to close the dialog box and finish installation. When the dialog box closes, restart your computer.

Install Service Pack 3. After you have successfully installed Microsoft Office XP Professional, you will need to update the software suite by installing Service Pack 3 (SP3), the office suite's final service pack. You can download SP3 from Microsoft's website (see Resources). Double-click the SP3 file to begin the update and follow the onscreen instructions. When SP3 has successfully been installed, a small dialog box will appear indicating this. Click 'OK' to close the dialog box. You can now begin to use the programs of Microsoft Office XP Professional.

Tip

• Microsoft continues to release new versions of the Office suite, adding greater options, additional programs and other features. Later versions of Microsoft Office include Microsoft Office 2003 and Microsoft 2007.

Download Office Xp Professional 32 Bit

I fixed this for someone last year.
Uninstall MS Office, then reinstall. Choose custom install and install EVERYTHING on the hard drive, by right clicking on the root of the programs and features expansion tree, then selecting 'run all from HD' (or something like that).

Install Microsoft Office Xp Professional

Select 'Run all from My Computer'. Running from the hard disk means plugging in the disk everytime you need to do something.

Install multiple version of internet explorer. The CD is the CD-ROM

The CD is the CD-ROM. 'Run all from My Computer' IS running from the Hard Drive.

When you started PowerPoint, it must have needed to install an optional component that was set to 'install on first run'. It asked for the CD to finish the installation. Since you don't have the CD and cancelled it when the question was asked, the question will continue to pop up any time you run one of the Office programs. The file it is looking for is the file that tells the installation routine that you have a genuine copy of the program and is not located on your hard drive.
There are only 2 solutions to the problem.
1) Provide the CD it is asking for so it can complete the installation.
2) Uninstall MS Office Pro, including FrontPage.
You said the program was put on your computer during an upgrade, so you don't have the CD. If you don't have the original installation media and CD Key that goes along with it, you are running pirated sofware. The person who did the upgrade on your computer should not have installed it illegally and you can be prosecuted for running an illegal copy of the software.
I would suggest you perform option 2 above to solve the problem. That is, unless you want to try to find a copy of the 5 year old software and purchase it. Good luck finding it. If I remember correctly, retail price for it was around $499 US.
