I think the black pearls look kinda neat
33,800 or so is about the latest serial I've encountered on a BA alto; not sure about the tenors. And, the 33,8xx horn I have some pics of is an SBA transition horn; BA body but has the SBA detachable bell(!).
Over the past 6 years my team has dealt with about 5 heart attacks, 2 potential strokes, at least 20 minor play injuries in the toddler area, 2 early pregnancy's, several dehydrated people, 4 or 5 of the elderly who have fallen, probably 15 plus small kids who lost their parents, 2 bi-polar people, three with broken bones, one stalker of.
Amasax : the black pearl (bakelite) story is true for 32xxx till 335xx so we're talking about 1200/1500 saxes (french assembled BAs only). I never saw SBA with black pearl finger touches (if anybody did pics welcome )On another hand : I saw BAs 'till337xx and SBAs since 335xx so during the overlap a few 'hybrids' (mainly altos) were produced but, exept the bow, the main difference was the toneholes offset (only for SBAs).
The same overlap exists for late SBAs and first MKVIs : you can find a few 'late SBAs' with MKVI keywork and a lot of 'early MKVIs' with SBA bore
